Our great American universities have a responsibility to our students, our states, and our Republic to educate citizens who are prepared to consider diverse ideas, engage in civil discourse, and work together to develop solutions to complex challenges. This work is especially urgent now, given the constant barrage of digital information students encounter and increased political polarization in our society. At UNT, we look forward to working with other institutions to strengthen civic education and development across our campuses.

Activation Plan

The university president will host a series of intimate “Fellowship Dinners” throughout the academic year. These gatherings bring together diverse groups of faculty, staff, and students, for open, facilitated conversation on topics ranging from current social issues to institutional values, creating a safe space for honest dialogue and mutual understanding.

Student Advisory Committee Meetings with the President empower students to express their perspectives directly to institutional leadership, shaping policies and student life through active civic participation.
