Activation Plan
Below is an overview of some campus activities:
- Trinity will continue to leverage its distinctive location in Connecticut’s capital city to prepare students to engage constructively across differences, connecting classroom learning with real-world civic challenges through programs such as the Community Action Gateway, Community Learning courses, the Liberal Arts Action Lab, Public Humanities Collaborative, and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Trinity will continue to expand opportunities for students to practice civic engagement, democratic participation, and collaborative problem-solving through initiatives including TrinVotes, the Legislative Internship Program, community-based research partnerships, voter engagement efforts, and sustained collaborations with Hartford schools, nonprofit organizations, and neighborhood groups.
- Building on longstanding partnerships with Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy (HMTCA), neighborhood organizations, public libraries, community advocacy groups, and civic leaders, Trinity will continue to create opportunities for students to engage with diverse perspectives and work across lines of difference to address issues of shared community concern.
- Through the Center for Hartford Engagement and Research (CHER), the Office of Community Relations, faculty-led community learning initiatives, community advisory boards, and collaborative partnerships across academic and student affairs, Trinity will continue to embed civic learning, dialogue across difference, and community engagement throughout the student experience.
- As a member of the C&S network, Trinity will continue to strengthen a campus culture that values constructive dialogue, intellectual curiosity, evidence-based inquiry, and democratic participation by building upon initiatives such as the Campaign for Community, StoryCorps One Small Step, TrinVotes, community-engaged learning courses, and public-facing programs that bring together students, faculty, staff, and community members around issues of shared importance.
