- In 2024-2025, former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, Esq., will continue his role as the Gwendolyn S. and Colbert I. King Chair Endowed Chair in Public Policy. Steele will conduct a lecture series to engage the Howard community on several subjects, including politics, voting, policymaking, and civility.
- The Center for Journalism & Democracy will host its 3rd Annual Democracy Summit on Oct. 8th at Howard University. Through expert talks, panel discussions, and interactive roundtable sessions, attendees from across the journalism and media ecosystem will gain insights and skills necessary to navigate and report on oligarchy and its influence in contemporary American society.
- The Ronald W Walters Leadership and Public Policy Center is working to encourage and enhance civic engagement among students.
- Howard University’s partnership with the Sustained Dialogue Institute ensures that students learn to communicate constructively and resolve conflicts between groups.
