Activation Plan

Below is an overview of some campus activities:

  • Bonner Scholar and Sullivan Fellow Programs: Student cohorts are given opportunities to make social impact through service learning and social entrepreneurship in the region while developing key civic leadership skills, working collaboratively with peers and faculty and staff mentors.
  • Nielsen Big Idea Lecture Series: This speaker series invites national figures alongside campus community members (students, faculty, and staff) to discuss and debate significant issues of our times, fostering active listening, critical reasoning, and reflective inquiry. 
  • Tea & Talk: Civil Discourse and Cross-Cultural Communication: The Office of Inclusive Excellence and Global Engagement will host a Tea & Talk designed to spark meaningful conversation around civil discourse and communicating across cultures in an inclusive setting. 
  • Spring 2026 Introductory Session on Dialogue Across Differences: The Office of Inclusive Excellence and the Office of Spiritual Life will offer a 90-minute session to help students build foundational skills for engaging in respectful conversations across diverse perspectives. 
  • Spring 2026 Overnight Leadership Training for Student Facilitators: The Office of Inclusive Excellence and the Office of Spiritual Life will host an overnight training for 20–25 student leaders focused on facilitating and navigating difficult conversations, while fostering peer connections and a sense of belonging. 
  • Campus-Wide Presentation on Free Expression and Civil Discourse: The Office of Spiritual Life will partner with North Carolina Campus Engagement to present a strategic overview to faculty, staff, and students on embedding a culture of meaningful dialogue within our campus community.
