Clark University’s mission is to educate undergraduate and graduate students to be imaginative and contributing citizens of the world, and to advance the frontiers of knowledge and understanding through rigorous scholarship and creative effort. Essential to fulfilling this mission is deliberate and purposeful exposure—through educational programs and campus life experiences—to the ideas, ideals, and practice of civic engagement. Doing this work alongside so many other committed individuals and institutions is a privilege.

Activation Plan

Below is an overview of some campus activities:

  • Clark is working toward a Voter Friendly Campus designation, earned through implementation of an action plan to expand even further Clark community members’ civic and electoral engagement.
  • The University will launch and sustain The Collaborative for Community Engagement to develop and coordinate partnerships and initiatives between Clark and the Worcester region.
  • Building upon a policy on Freedom of Expression and Community adopted in 2019, the University further articulated its institutional commitment to advancing critical inquiry and civil discourse – centered around free expression – in a June 2024 policy on institutional statements. The policy is based on recommendations from a committee comprised of faculty, students, staff, and trustees.
