Activation Plan

Below is an overview of some campus activities:

  • Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Project (AAC&U): Guttman Community College has been selected to participate in the American Association of Colleges and Universities’ Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) project. The goal of this project is to create TRHT Campus Centers that will prepare the next generation of leaders to address issues of systemic racism. Guttman is participating in the beta testing phase of the TRHT Campus Climate Assessment Toolkit Evaluation. Beta testing involves engaging with the content, testing out and completing the associated tools and exercises, and participating in content-specific focus groups. TRHT will use the toolkit’s content areas to inform development and /or implementation of post-assessment efforts.
  • Leadership Training in Pragmatic, No -Blame Problem Solving for University Employees (The Citizens Campaign): Collaboration with The Citizens Campaign to provide training to faculty, staff, and administrators to support civic engagement on campus. This training will support employees in helping students be critical thinkers as they view solutions that are being implemented in their communities. It will also help to support identifying opportunities for students to provide service to their communities.
  • Campus Anti-Hate Events to Support Understanding and Dialogue:
  • Jewish Heritage Museum: “What Hate Can Do”
  • Museum of Chinese in America: “Explorable Places”
  • APIDA Kickoff (May 7th): Ajna Dance Company
  • Library Capstone Collections (40 books/collection): AAPI Collection, Jewish Collection, Social Justice Collection
  • Speaker for APIDA Celebration: James Rhee
  • Exploring the Intersection: Judaism, Race, and Culture
  • Notes of Faith: The Interplay of Black and Jewish Heritage
  • Center for Career Preparation & Partnerships (CCPP): DEIB Training with Dr. Dina Skef
  • Guttman EmpowerHER: Leadership 101 to support women leaders at Guttman with Ouida Vendryes of Resolution Management
