Since our founding in 1906, Pace has been committed to preparing our students for active community participation and social responsibility in their careers and their communities. We are committed to this work because we know that civic preparedness is vital to empowering our students to address increasingly complex economic, social, and environmental challenges–and to become makers of the world in which they want to live.

Below is an overview of some campus activities:
- Pace’s liberal arts core curriculum includes two requirements meant to foster dialogue on difficult issues and advance students’ civic preparedness, including a Civic Engagement and Public Values requirement.
- The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) supports the University’s commitment to educating for active community participation and social responsibility. In 2023-2023, students logged 57,068 total service hours from Civic Engagement courses and CCAR service events.
- In March 2024, thanks to CCAR’s efforts, Pace became one of less than a dozen schools, and one of the few private institutions, to successfully negotiate polling places on both of its campuses for the 2023-2024 election cycle.
