Activation Plan
Below is an overview of some campus activities:
BHCC’s Ethnographies of Work (EoW) program is a cornerstone in our mission of educational and economic uplift: designed to embed career literacy in curricula across all disciplines. EoW provides students with opportunities to learn about social mobility through ethnographic research methods such as workplace observations, informational interviews, and reflective writing.
Compelling Conversations brings experts, visionaries, and professionals from across a wide array of fields to the College to engage in dialogue with our community, in conversations that are not only compelling but also thoughtful, rigorous, and challenging.
BHCC’s Center for Professional Development serves as a nexus between College employees—those who directly serve students and those who serve them behind the scenes—and practitioners, thought leaders, and policy makers from across disciplines, jurisdictions, and points of view, taking on subjects grounded in asset-based teaching and with a vision for pedagogies of economic uplift.
The Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning (CCE&SL), will serve as a hub for integrating leadership, teamwork, and civic engagement into students’ academic journeys through service-learning opportunities via partnerships with local organizations. This integrated approach equips students with real-world experience and cultivates civic responsibility while also enhancing faculty development and fostering reciprocal, sustainable community partnerships.
