Below is an overview of some campus activities:
- The Provost’s Initiative on the Middle East is a year-long effort to make space in the campus community for rigorous and respectful debate on conflicts in the region. The initiative features Duke faculty and outside experts fostering discussions to enhance understanding, build skills that lead to shared learning, and nurture a sense of community.
- The University hosts several faculty workshops featuring panels of peers and campus colleagues on how to navigate charged dialogues on complex issues.
- The Kenan Institute for Ethics Civil Discourse Project (CDP) sponsors courses, events, and scholarship that promote civil discourse through modeling or teaching. There will be two Civil Discourse Project Faculty Seminars in May and June 2024, covering course content and best practices for promoting civil discussion in the classroom.
- Duke will be sending faculty members to the College Presidents for Civic Preparedness Faculty Institute.
