A fundamental principle of higher education is the furtherance of an educated, tolerant and diverse populace. Fostering a deeper understanding of the economic, social, legal and cultural issues at the core of a pluralistic society is vital for a responsive and representational democracy. At Oakland University, we strive to be a model campus community where free expression and rigorous discourse thrives and inspires the type of civil and respectful behavior necessary for positive and peaceful change.
