Activation Plan
Below is an overview of some campus activities:
- Illinois Tech Votes is our university’s landing page for all things voting, voter engagement, and census-related.
- President Echambadi convened a Committee on Enhancing Civility and Mutual Respect to provide a framework for the university to enhance civil discourse on campus. The committee has issued a comprehensive report and recommendations, which include, but are not limited to, joining this consortium; the development of regulatory policies for the campus community around civil discourse; the development of Co-Curricular political, cultural, social, and intellectual “awareness-raising” events; and the deployment of extensive surveys and pre-matriculation assessments to track student civic engagement.
- Illinois Tech holds annual voter registration events hosted by the Student Government Association on campus.
- Illinois Tech is a member of All IN Campus Challenge and participates in the Tufts University long-range study of campus voter turnouts in each federal election cycle.
Planned Initiatives:
- Embedding civil discourse and civic engagement across all university curriculum with framing specific to the coursework.
- Implementing co-design sessions for students to collaborate on the creation of solutions for enhancing civil discourse on campus.
- An international food festival to increase cross-cultural engagement
