University of Pittsburgh hosts a conversation on the role of universities in civic preparedness

At University of Pittsburgh’s Nov. 7 event “A Conversation on the Role of Universities in Civic Preparedness,” Carissa Slotterback, dean of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, facilitated a discussion emphasizing universities’ role in advancing civil discourse and fostering community engagement. The conversation featured Rajiv Vinnakota, president of the Institute for Citizens and Scholars, and Kristin Kanthak, a political science associate professor, and explored themes like the role of young people in democracy and the importance of accessible communication to encourage trust in institutions.
