Across rural Minnesota, many communities face shortages of emergency medical responders. St. Olaf College’s Rural Health Initiative is helping meet that need by partnering with local ambulance services to expand emergency care while giving students hands-on clinical experience. Working alongside professional EMTs, students support rural communities, build real-world skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the unique healthcare challenges facing underserved areas. It’s a partnership that strengthens local emergency response while preparing future healthcare professionals through service and community-based learning.
